Explore our historic building erected in 1927 and restored to its original conditions. We are proud to be listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places and a designated New York City Landmark since 2004.
Kehila Kedosha Janina, at the same location on the Lower East Side for the past 93 years, is the last remaining Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. Our active communitystill conducts weekly services in the traditional Romaniote and Sephardic liturgy.
Join us for our weekly Shabbat and Jewish holiday services. Use our state-of-the-art facility to host a wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, family reunion, or other events.
Learn more about Greek Jewry and Jewish Life on the Lower East Side. Our museum is open to the public every Sunday from 11am-4pm as well as by appointment and offers free guided tours.
The museum serves as a repository for Greek Jewish history and culture. It also hosts a variety of events throughout the year including lectures, book signings, movie screenings, and concerts.

Simhat Torah Celebration & Dinner
Tuesday September 28 at 6:45pm
Join us as we celebrate the holiday of Simhat Torah! Services begin at 6:45pm including Minha, Arvith, and Hakafot. A traditional Greek Jewish dinner will be served following services. Please RSVP to Amarcus@kkjsm.org

High Holiday Services
Join us for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services to celebrate the new year. Experience the unique Judeo-Greek traditions of Ioannina at Kehila Kedosha Janina, the last remaining Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere.

Shabbat Morning Services

We are proud to announce that starting October 2 - Shabbat Bereshit, KKJ will reopen for weekly Shabbat morning services. We will continue to require masks and monitor all health guidance to ensure our community is safe. We need your help. Join us for services and help us continue our beautiful Romaniote traditions. Join us after services for our traditional Greek kiddush lunch. We promise you will enjoy the experience of our community as much as we will appreciate seeing you.
